ATTENDANCE KEEPER is a program that performs tracking of Half-Day
Attendance records for Elementary Schools. It calculates class attendance
summaries, district attendance summaries for both month and year to date
and summaries by grade categories. It tracks transfers both within and outside
the district and calculates the number of male and female students. It will
within reason work on any size school district (currently being used by schools
ranging from 600-1300 students). Registration will allow it's use in multiple
schools within the same district. All class file data collected at each school
may then be merged to create the final district summary. It was orginally
written to spec for two Illinois Elementary School Districts that have been
using it for over two years.
To run the program, simply unzip it in a temporary directory or to
floppy and then run the INSTALL program. The INSTALL program will set up a
directory for you and create a batch file to run the program from the DOS
command line. Refer to AK_104A.DOC for instructions on the proper usage of
the program. It is best to accept the default directory name suggested by
the install program for reasons that are revealed in the AK_104A.DOC file.
The program is SHAREWARE with a registration fee of $150.00. It is
fully functional, but after 120 days of unregistered use, it will start
reminding the user of the need to register with a NAG screen. It will never
make any of the functions of the program inaccessible.
The program will run on any IBM compatible computer regardless of type
of graphics card. It supports but does not require a Microsoft compatible mouse
and if your windows mouse driver is properly installed, the program will
successfully run under Windows. The program is currently being used on machines
ranging from PC-XT equivalents to 386-DX33's with more than acceptable results.
The biggest factor in performance for large school districts will be the speed
of the printer that the reports are generated on. No special drivers are
needed for the printers since the program only utilizes simple ASCII characters.
The author will accept questions about the usage of the program from
unregistered users (within reason) that pertain to installation and proper
usage of the program. He WILL NOT return any phone calls at his expense from
unregistered users!
This is the first version of this program to be released into the
SHAREWARE environment. DWS Software's phone number is (309) 444-2497 and
it is located in Washington, IL. The program was written in Turbo Pascal and
utilizes routines from the Technojock's Turbo Toolkit (c) TechnoJock Software
Inc. of Houston Tx.
